The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire – March 11, 1911

The Triangle Shirtwaist fire in 1911 is among the deadliest industrial tragedies in U.S. history.  It bears a striking resemblance to one of the major news events of the past week.  One of the outcomes of the disaster was the growth of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.  Lest we forget, this is what it took to bring tangible safety efforts to the garment industry.
